That damn wall...

Not really a fan of the Dave Matthews Band, but this remix on the Matrix Reloaded soundtrack hit me hard (I don't know why) when I heard it the first time, and came back to me tonight as I hit a wall ... again. That damned "what's the point of it all" wall.

I know at one point in life I determined and accepted that there was NO point but to simply exist...existing (or surviving as it were) IS the ONLY reason for our existence.

Eventually my thoughts about that subject changed and I believe something entirely different today yet for several years I simply EXISTED....and that was enough.

There are times when simply existing has to be good enough.

Therein lay questions:

What is the definition of the verb, 'to exist?'

Who defines that verb?

How does that verb convey action?

Is it transitive, or intransitive?

An astronaut may tell you that flying in space is existence, and to exist is the totality of his/her life leading to the point of piloting a space craft.

A rock may tell you "Oy, I'm just laying around." And that is existence.

A rock serves a purpose.

Is that rock's purpose to exist, or to fill space and time according to the requirements of an external entity with sufficient power to force the rock into a purpose? Is the rock then existing with a purpose?

Okay... then me and the rock serve the same purpose.
